Technical Details

Utranazz offers a wide variety of Hand-Fed site concrete mixers. Outputs range from 150 litres to 400 litres so are suited to small builders or do-it-yourself enthusiasts. The largest model in the range is ideal for use on building sites. All of Utranazz Hand-Fed concrete mixers are fitted with a unique rack and pinion drive system, which couples with the patented pressed-steel drive crown. Reversal of the drum is achieved by pressing down the foot control and turning the hand wheel for rotation.

Mixing Your Own Concrete using a Hand-Fed Concrete Mixer

The four basic elements, which make-up concrete are Portland cement; a fine aggregate, such as sand; a coarse aggregate, such as crushed rock or gravel; and water. The aggregates (sand and gravel both free of organic matter) should make up 2/3 to 3/4 of the volume of any finished concrete.

The water used for mixing the concrete needs to be clean and free of acids, alkalies, oils and sulfates. Although the ingredients in concrete are always the same, the finished results depend on the proper mix of the four elements.

The intended use of the concrete will determine the concentration of each element in the mix. For foundations and retaining walls, use about 6-1/4 gallons of water for each sack of cement. Concrete that is mixed for pouring sidewalks, stepping stones and slabs, requires about 5-3/4 gallons of water per sack of cement. The proper mix for pouring sidewalks, steps and driveways should be 1 part Portland cement to 2 parts sand and 3 parts gravel.

Always follow the mixing instructions on the bag of cement when mixing your concrete.

Measuring the Volume of Concrete Required

To know how much concrete to mix in your Hand-Fed Mixer, multiply the length by the width of the area you plan to cover with concrete. This will give you the square footage of the area. You also need to determine the thickness in inches of the slab you plan to pour. Multiply the square footage by the thickness. For example, if you are planning to pour a patio that is 10' x 14', you have a total of 140 square feet.
Suppose you plan to pour the patio slab 5" thick. A 140 square feet of a slab this thick requires 2.27 cubic yards of concrete to pour the slab.

A Hand-Fed concrete mixer is ideal for home improvement construction work and is easy for any DIY enthusiast to operate.
