Discover vertical and low-level cement silos for sale in UK A cement silo can either be a permanent fixture at a construction site or there is the option of low-level mobile cement silos which have the advantage of being easily transported and placed at the most convenient position with no planning permission required. Vertical cement silos are large, imposing structures made from heavy, durable steel that have been built to house and distribute cement mixtures and other powered construction materials such as PFA (pulverised fuel ash).  The selection of the appropriate type and size of construction equipment including material storage facilities such as cement silos often affects the required amount of time, effort and job-site productivity of a project. It is therefore important for site managers and construction planners to be familiar with the characteristics of the major types of equipment most commonly used in construction. In this article we will give a brief over view cement silos. Permanent or portable cement silo? There are two basic types of cement silo, namely permanent or portable silos. Portable cement silos are generally smaller and are built with mobility in mind so they can be relocated, potentially at a moment’s notice. Permanent silos however are built to stand their ground and can be actually rather attractive and striking structures, which belie their imposing sizes. As with most types of silo of course, a cement silo will be equipped with a blower that will allow it to expel its contents in a safe and orderly fashion. The contents will generally be expelled into the back of a specially equipped truck or similar receptacle. The blower equipment can generally be detached from the silo itself for easier storage, even in permanent models. Depending on its size and girth, a cement silo can be built to hold up to several hundred tonnes of dry cement. Most mobile, low-level cement silos are built to accommodate no more than a few tonnes. The larger silos will often only be found at concrete plants, where the product is stored before it's shipped to other contractors who will store the mixture in their own, smaller silos. On many construction sites, mobile silos are by far the preferred option as they can be moved around the site at will to wherever they are needed to be. The key advantage is that their presence at a project site does not require planning permission thus saving time and money acquiring the correct paper work. They also only take a few hours to fully set-up and dismantle in around the same amount of time. Both brand new full-scale and used low-level cement silos can be fitted with a variety of accessories. These can range from radio remote controls (which can operate the blower from a safe distance) to in-built water systems with their own on board tanks and electronic weighing systems. Such accessories are especially useful in vertical cement silos. Looking to buy a cement silo?
