Utranazz, the concrete equipment specialist, has supplied United Carpentry Formwork Pumping Ltd (UCF Pumping) in Guernsey with an Urban Pump – the smallest truck-mounted concrete boom pump on the Island. The Urban Pump is perfect for locations such as Guernsey, where the roads are notoriously narrow and subject to both weight and size restrictions. It is mounted on a short wheelbase 10 ton lorry, which makes it as versatile to manoeuvre as a large van.
Although extremely compact in size, the Urban Pump has all the features associated with a larger unit, such as radio remote control, ‘S’ valve pumping system, hydraulic stabiliser legs, high pressure water pump and a 15 metre placing boom that rotates through 360o.
Jamie Weysom, Director of UCF Pumping, explains: “The Urban Pump is just 2.1 metres in width, 3 metres in height, 6.8 metres in length and weighs 9,150kg. These proportions make it ideal for concrete pumping work in Guernsey, as the roads and lanes are very tight with some down to just a single lane, and access and space is always restricted. The Urban Pump is small enough so that it can be set up on just one side of a road, which means that we no longer need to organise both lane road closures.”
The Urban Pump has a 15m placing boom which, if further pipeline is integrated, can extend to reach 65m vertically and 300m horizontally, pumping concrete at rates of 45m3/hour. It has a 3 section ‘Z’ fold placing boom that can unfold in just 4.4m of space.
